The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has finished the 14th race of the year with Kasey Kahne winning in Pocono. The point’s standings are getting stimulating with Kyle Busch still on top. Although Kyle Busch had a dismal race in Pocono he is still leading the Series point’s standings. Busch entered the race on top of the points and did everything he could to finish at the bottom of the race. And that’s incisively what he did by finishing the Pocono 500 in dead last, 43rd.

Busch’s lead has been scaled down to only 21 points in front of the series second place driver Jeff Burton. The top four positions in the series stay unchanged with Dale Earnhardt Jr. in third and Carl Edwards still in fourth. Each of these four drivers have placed in the top 10 in ten of the fourteen races for 2008. Consistency is very necessary to be one of the leaders for the Sprint Cup and these top four are proving that being at the front is what matters most.

Kyle Busch leads all drivers in wins with four so far this year. Edwards has three wins this year securing the third position in points. Jeff Burton has one win. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the only driver of the four without a win this year.

The hard charger in points this weekend was Denny Hamlin, up four positions and race winner Kasey Kahne up three positions. Hamlin is now in fifth position with Kahne in ninth position.

Of the key twelve positions in the chase, three drivers lost positions, Greg Biffle and Jeff Gordon each lost two positions. Clint Bowyer lost three positions and Tony Stewart went down one and is now in twelfth place.

Stewart needs to be careful. There appears to be so much talk when it comes to what will take place to Stewart next year, it appears that perhaps he has lost focus for 2008. But before we go too far with that thought, we need to do not forget that it is a Stewart tradition to be a hard charger in the later share of the season.

This weekend will give rise to an stimulating race in Michigan. How will the point’s battle shape up? Will there be any major changes with the top contenders? Can Kahne carry on his winning ways or will this be the weekend for an individual new to be the hard charger?
